Success Stories

Wolfe Apartments resident

I came to Wolfe Apartments with a drug and alcohol problem.  I was homeless.  I had nowhere to go.  There weren't any affordable apartments in Naples.... It's a stereotypical story.  I had been a real estate broker.  I was making a six figure income and slowly developed a desire to play with recreational drugs and it got out of hand. Before I knew it, I had lost everything that I held dear, including my family, my money and my job. The next thing you know I was homeless and living on the street. Drugs and alcohol were what I lived for; my day consisted primarily of getting and using drugs.  I went from riches to rags and before you knew it, I was in Naples.  I was literally living under a pile of concrete blocks under a vacant construction site. I was homeless and too far gone to save. My family had written me off.  My friends had written me off.  I expected to die homeless and addicted, and if it weren't for St. Matthew's and Wolfe Apartments, I would probably be dead, or in jail now, but I'm very happy that I'm not. They have help here, but you have to want help.  Just like anything else, you have to be ready and willing to participate in what they offer. St. Matthew's and Wolfe Apartments offer so many things, like a community environment. One thing I had lost was the ability to live with other people.  I had lost all of my social skills and in the couple of years since I have been here, I've learned to live again with people and do the things that are socially acceptable.  I'm just really happy that I'm able to be a part of this community.  I have reestablished contact with my son and my daughter, my sister and niece. They have accepted me and they are so happy with what Wolfe Apartments and St. Matthew's have done for me.  They think back to my old self.  What they don't know, is that it's one day at a time, and I need to be living in this environment. There is zero tolerance here. They will ask you to leave if you are using drugs or alcohol, and you have to participate in the things that they offer.  There are A/A and N/A meetings here on the premises.  You have to be clean and sober to be a part of the environment here and they regularly check you to see that you are participating in clean and sober recovery. I am just so happy to be here and have the environment in which I live to help me in my recovery.
