Wolfe Apartments
This 46-unit transitional living complex opened in 2003 and was named for Catherine Wolfe who gifted St. Matthew's House the land on which it was built in the Golden Gate City area of Naples. The facility provides a drug and alcohol-free structured community with guidance and support provided by an on-site staff. Twenty permanent units are dedicated to the permanently disabled with rents adjusted to their income. St. Matthew's House looks to our supporters to help subsidize these units.
The Wolfe Apartments serves the residents who graduate from our Recovery Program as well as the homeless in our community. It's an opportunity to move from a hopeless situation to self sufficiency, in an affordable and supportive environment
Prospective Wolfe Apartments tenants must meet all the requirements of SMH plus they must show the ability to take on the responsibilities of their own home. An average stay at the non-permanent units is two years. Over 80% of Wolfe graduates successfully reenter a normal life living in market-priced housing.
Wolfe Apartments houses on average over 100 people annually. In 2007, 30 people graduated successfully
from the Wolfe program back into market-priced housing. Wolfe Apartments has a 100% success rate with
graduates of our two-year program reentering a normal, self-sufficient lifestyle.
Wolfe Apartments Guidelines
Tenants must:
- Have remained sober for at least six consecutive months and submit to random drug/alcohol testing
- Be homeless according to HUD standards
- Be 18 years or older
- Abide by the house rules
- Attend (6) on site activities per year (i.e. tenant association meetings, classes, presentations, social gatherings)
- Develop an individualized plan with their case manager, and meet with him or her once a month to review and strive to achieve all goals outlined in the plan
- Remain employed, if not employed must be actively seeking employment, and prove to their case manager evidence of their efforts
- Submit list of medications to the case manager, and take the medications as prescribed
- Attend all psychiatric, mental health, and medical appointments, as well as individual therapy sessions, support groups, or classes as suggested by mental health professionals and/or case manager
Attend Narcotics and/or Alcoholics Anonymous meetings at lest three times per week and stay in contact with sponsor - Demonstrate ability to live in harmony with others and abstain from non verbal or physically aggressive behavior
- Open a savings and/or checking account and develop a budget with the help of their case manager
- Provide a signed release form allowing the case manager to obtain their records
- Pay rent in a timely manner or arrange a payment plan with the Property Manager if unable to do so
