Big Cypress Market Place Food Drive:
Now - January 21st, 2009
Big Cypress Market Place, Naples' newest shopping venue, encourages shoppers to donate a non-perishable food item to St. Matthew's House for our Food Pantry. Big Cypress offers 200 vendors, a produce market, food court, gaming room, tiki bar and more. Visit Big Cypress for more information. Well-marked shopping carts are placed throughout the Market Place.
Music with a Mission, an evening with Ron Block and Sierra Hull:
Tuesday January 6th,7pm at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 777 Mooringline Drive in NaplesMy Favorite Guitars and Thrivant Financial present an extraordinary evening of Christian bluegrass music with 13-time Grammy Award winner Ron Block, longtime member of Alison Krauss & Union Station, along with special guest, teenage mandolin sensation Sierra Hull. Sierra Hull has toured with Union Station and has appeared at the Grand Ole Opry and Carnegie Hall. Ron and Sierra will be joined by 18-year old banjo phenom Cory Walker and bassist Beth Lawrence, one of Nashville's top talents, as well as Naples' own Jon Garon. Both shows will include a raffle for tickets to see Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder at the Naples Philharmonic on January 28th (tickets courtesy of Flamingo Island Flea Market) and original watercolor artwork by Naples artist Shannon Gargiulo. All raffle proceeds will benefit St. Matthew's House.
A free will donation of $10 is suggested for the Emmanuel Lutheran performance, plus a non-perishable food item for St. Matthew's House Food Pantry. Call 239-261-0894 for more information.

Homeless Count Volunteer Training
Wednesday, January 7th, 1-2pm at St. Matthew's House
This one-hour training session will prepare volunteers for conducting the annual Collier County Homeless Count and Outreach sponsored by the Collier County Hunger and Homeless Coalition (CCHHC). The Homeless Count will be held at St. Matthew's House on Thursday, January 29th. To volunteer or for more information, please contact the CCHHC or call 239-253-3449.
